COVID-19 Coronavirus Update

Dear Library Patrons:

Earlier today, the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Monroe county. This marks the first North Mississippi case. In an evening address, Governor Reeves strongly recommended that state agencies and businesses work to keep employees at home if possible and self isolate to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

In accordance with the Governor, the CLPLS library system will be closed effective March 17, 2020 until further notice. This was a very hard decision to make but we had to consider the vast range of ages that we see on a day to day basis in the library. The health and well being of our entire community is important to us.

The online resources listed below will still be available to use. I will be available to help anyone with getting these resources set up for use. My email address is ebusbea@lowndes.lib.ms.us. If you need assistance, please email me.

Please continue to exercise healthy hygiene habits.

COVID-19 Coronavirus Update

Dear Library Patrons:

The library is working on a curb-side pickup program. Each branch will have this option available as a resource. If you need books, please give your branch a call and request curb-side service. Books will be pulled, checked out to your account, and sanitized before we deliver them to your car.

We also have some great online resources that will provide you access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines, and online story times. Check out the links below (links are underlined, just click the words!). A library card is required for the digital services, if you do not have a card, please call. We will get you signed up for a card over the phone.

COVID-19 Coronavirus Update - CLPLS Closing to the Public

Dear Library Patrons:

In accordance with direction from the Mississippi Department of Health, the Board of Trustees of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System has decided to close to the public to help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus, effective Monday, March 16, 2020  through Saturday, March 21, 2020. This includes all locations - Artesia, Caledonia, Columbus, and Crawford.

The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System (CLPLS) welcomes hundreds of people every day, and we take the health and well-being of our communities very seriously. While we know this may be an inconvenience, we are committed to providing as many library services as possible without opening our doors to the public.

• We encourage everyone to use our outside book drops. NO OVERDUE FINES will be charged during this time and ALL MATERIALS will be automatically renewed in the event you are unable to get to the library.

• We also encourage you to explore our digital services. We have many new titles available through our Overdrive, Hoopla and RBdigital services. If you are not already familiar with our digital services, please call us for instructions to get started, or visit our links from the homepage.

• COMING SOON: CLPLS is working to develop a plan for curbside service. We will post more details soon.

• Staff will be working during modified hours to answer reference questions, give technical support and assist as much as possible.

• Free WiFi will remain available in our parking lots.

We will regularly update this website and CLPLS Facebook page as information develops.

We apologize for any inconvenience, but our top priority is to protect the health and well-being of our staff and the communities that we are serving during this time.

Thank you for your understanding.
